CYTOLOGY ANALYSIS: £30
Cytology is a simple, non-invasive procedure used to help identify the most suitable time for mating. A swab is taken from the female and the cells collected are analysed under a microscope, with results available within approximately 15 minutes. Testing is usually recommended between days 9 and 11 of your female's season, although this can vary depending on the individual dog and breed. We recommend that your dog does not urinate before her appointment, where possible, as this can affect the sample collected. Based on the results, we can recommend suitable mating dates or advise when a repeat test may be required. In some cases, the first test may provide a baseline result and further testing may be needed to pinpoint the most suitable mating days.
SEMEN COUNT & MOTILITY ANALYSIS : £50
Semen analysis is an important fertility check for both new and established stud dogs, helping to assess the overall quality of the semen before a planned mating. A sample is collected and analysed at our clinic using specialist equipment to assess sperm count, motility and overall quality, as well as identifying any visible abnormalities which could potentially affect fertility. Results are provided immediately, giving you a clear indication of the quality and movement of the sperm at the time of testing. Following the analysis, you will also receive a professional digital certificate with the results. Regular semen analysis is recommended for active stud dogs to help monitor fertility and identify any changes over time.
ASSISTED MATING : £50
Assisted mating is a breeding technique that can be used as an alternative to natural mating. The procedure can be carried out at our clinic using fresh semen collected from the stud dog, or chilled semen from a stud located further away. Assisted mating can be particularly useful where a natural mating is difficult or not possible, for example due to a difference in size, location or if either dog is unwilling to mate naturally. Timing is an important part of the process, so we recommend fertility testing beforehand to help determine the most suitable days for assisted mating.
ULTRASOUND SCAN : £40
We offer professional ultrasound scanning to confirm pregnancy using specialist ultrasound equipment at our clinic. For the most reliable pregnancy detection, we recommend scanning from 28 days after the last mating date. During the scan, we can confirm whether a pregnancy is visible, provide an estimated due date and give an approximate indication of litter size. Please note that puppy counts during ultrasound are estimates and cannot be guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Ultrasound scanning can also be useful in helping to distinguish between pregnancy and signs associated with a phantom pregnancy.
MICROCHIPPING : £8-10
We are fully qualified, experienced and insured microchip implanters, using small microchips designed for comfortable implantation. Puppies must be microchipped and registered on a compliant database before they are eight weeks old, unless a veterinary exemption applies. The breeder is responsible for ensuring each puppy is microchipped and recorded as the first keeper before it leaves for its new home. Following microchipping, breeders are provided with the relevant microchip details for each puppy, ready to include within their puppy packs for the new owners.
